Gmail Migration
Important Information!
This page outlines what you can expect as we move our email accounts to Gmail. We will do our best to ensure a smooth transition, but please be patient.

Why is Cavalier migrating to Gmail?
This decision was not made lightly. We are mindful of the fact that change can be disruptive. We thoroughly evaluated how to make improvements to the existing system that would best serve our customers. Our email system has always been problematic and we made the decision to replace it with what we believe is the best system available. If you can hang in there with us through the move, we are 100% confident that you will be pleased with the results.

When will my account be moved?
We will move all TalkAmerica.net email accounts on June 17th, 2008.

How long will the move take?
The move will take approximately 8 hours to complete.
Will my email service be interrupted?
Access to your email account may be interrupted for a few hours between 9PM June 17th and 6AM June 18th.

How will I know when my account has been moved?
You will receive an email the day before your account is moved indicating that your account will be moved within 24 hours. The email will also include instructions on how to access your mail and where to go for help should you need it.

What will happen to all of my archived messages and folders?
Don't worry, we will move all of your archived messages, and folders for you. When you log into your new mailbox, they will be there waiting for you.

Where do I access my WebMail?
If you have an email address that contains '@cavtel.net', go to home.cavtel.net to access your personal start page, or gmail.cavtel.net to log into your web mail account. If your email address contains '@talkamerica.net', go to home.talkamerica.net to access your personal start page, or gmail.talkamerica.net to log into your web mail account.

Will my email address stay the same or will I have an @gmail.com account?
Your email address will stay the same - your_username @ cavtel.net.

I use Outlook (or Outlook Express), can I still use it?
Yes, you can continue to use desktop mail clients such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Apple Mail and Thunderbird with the new system. When we move your account, we will send you detailed instructions on how to configure your mail client to access the system.

What if I use Apple Mail?
No worries - Gmail will work with any POP/IMAP mail client including, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express.
